Shooting on 5th Street Leaves One Dead, Investigation Ongoing | Sacramento cover

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (PSN) – A shooting that occurred just before noon on Sunday in the 2700 block of 5th Street has resulted in the death of an 18-year-old male, the Sacramento Police Department reported.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting and found the victim with at least one gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

On Monday, June 24, 2024, the Sacramento Police Department’s Public Information Officer provided an update. "Sadly, the victim did succumb to his injuries. He was 18 years old – no updates on the suspect," said the PIO in a statement at 10:15 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing, with officers processing the scene for evidence and interviewing potential witnesses. Authorities have not made any arrests and are urging the public to come forward with information.
