SACRAMENTO, Calif. (PSN) – In the early hours of Father’s Day, crews from the Sacramento Metro Fire Department and officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to a single-vehicle collision near the “On The Y” bar in Sacramento.

Just after midnight, first responders arrived to find a vehicle crashed into a tree adjacent to the popular bar on Fulton Avenue. The driver’s side of the vehicle bore the brunt of the impact.

On-scene witnesses reported the vehicle was traveling at an extremely high rate of speed when it lost control and struck the tree. Patrons inside the bar initially believed the vehicle had collided with the building due to the loud noise and the presence of debris. They described having to push aside car parts and debris to exit the bar.

CHP confirmed that the driver, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses reported that a female passenger managed to exit the vehicle immediately after the crash. She was transported to a local hospital by paramedics; her condition remains unknown, though witnesses indicated she was able to walk away from the wreck.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident. Further updates will be provided as information becomes available.
