SACRAMENTO, Calif. (PSN) – Just after 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, the Sacramento Police Department and the Sacramento Fire Department responded to reports of a shooting in front of the Cheesecake Factory on Arden Way. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper body, according to early reports. The victim was transported to the hospital via paramedic ambulance.

Early investigations revealed that the actual shooting occurred near the intersection of Alta Arden Expressway and Ethan Way, near “In-N-Out Burger”. Initial reports suggest that the incident may have stemmed from road rage.

Due to jurisdictional boundaries, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office has taken over the investigation. According to a spokesperson from the Sheriff's Office, the Sacramento Police Department initially responded as the Cheesecake Factory falls under their jurisdiction, but it was later determined that the crime originated and occurred within county limits.

Just before 12:30 a.m., the Sacramento Sheriff's Office issued an update indicating that homicide detectives were en route to the scene and that the victim was listed in critical condition.

This remains a developing story, and further updates will be provided as they become available from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.
