SACRAMENTO, Calif. (PSN) — The Sacramento Police Department released an updated media advisory Friday morning regarding an officer-involved shooting involving the California Highway Patrol in Old North Sacramento.
According to the release, at approximately 12:03 a.m. on March 27, 2026, Sacramento police received an emergency assistance call from CHP reporting their officers had been involved in a shooting near Boxwood Street and El Camino Avenue.
Sacramento police officers arrived shortly afterward and provided medical aid to the suspect until personnel with the Sacramento Fire Department arrived. Despite life-saving efforts, the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators confirmed a firearm was located and recovered at the scene.

Because the incident occurred within Sacramento city limits, the Sacramento Police Department is the lead agency in the investigation. Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded, along with CHP personnel, to process the scene.
The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office is monitoring the investigation.
The identity of the deceased will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office following notification of next of kin.

The investigation remains active, and officials say the information released so far is preliminary and subject to change.
